Welcome to Tidelidees Kennel Norway. On this site I will show pictures of  my own  and some other Coton de Tulears because I think it is a very special and interesting breed. It is a rare breed  in Norway were we have about 200 Coton de Tulear . Cotons are  quick, playful, intelligent, got a fast apprehension-ability, are funny, and very devoted to its owner. They love to run free, and are very strong and healthy and can be quite old, 16-17 years. Because of their special angels, they are aloud to walk in a jumpy way in the ring when showing at exhibitions. Cotons shall jump and dance. You have to groom a Coton regularly. But if you don't wash your dog to often the coat is  kind of cleans it self, and the dirt can be brushed out when its dry.  The fur feels like Coton and therefore the name. It means Cotton from Tulear, who is a port in Madagascar.  The breed as we know it in Europe (FCI-standard) has  developed because only the best  dogs has been used in breeding. The many dramatic stories about how the breed has origin is various. One is that  rich Ladies companion-dogs   has mated with local terriers after ships has sunk near Madagascar, and the dogs have swam ashore. Some belive the pirates brought them to Madagascar.  Coton belongs in the  Bichon- group, but has   Bedlington Terrier  and from them Whippet blood.  A Coton shall have a full long coat if it's showed, and shall not be scissored. It is a white dog, but it can have some drawings in champagne or black who gives an impression of grey. A totally white dog is preferred. The breed is very intelligent and in the US has some Cotons done very well in Agility and Obedience. The Coton is a guarding dog from nature and therefore it can bark some. But when the visitors are all in the house and the greeting is over, they usually becomes very calm again.  If you will know more of the Coton see my links to the net.

About us : We have a little family Kennel  were we will breed Cotons under the  kennel name Tidelidee.
As a co-breeder for Inger Ronander, her two last litters was born  in my house and nursed by me. I have been lucky and learned a lot from Inger who has been and still is my Mentor. Inger has been breeding OES  from 1974 and later Cotons from 1988 in the kennel-name Symphony's . Inger also imported the first Coton to Scandinavia in 1988, called  Norwegian Symphony of Woodland Cottage. She is also a FCI judge with Cotons as  speciality.
Our dogs lives inside our house and are family members. The first weeks after they are  born, the puppies and their mother  have their own "room" , next to our bedroom  where it's hot and peaceful, and the bitch can come and go as she pleases. Later the puppies lives in our living room  during the day, and get used to older dogs, people and noises. When they are older they also run free in our garden. We will try to use champion dogs in our breeding and of course we only use healthy dogs with a nice temper. We don't ship puppies.

Health: All puppies are examined by a vet and micro chipped and vaccinated. Our dogs  get their shots every year, and are examined by our vet at least once a year.
The dogs are schecked for patella, and other problems.  We also checks  the heart. We  check their eyes regular for PRA etc. at a specialist in Ophtomology.   All our dogs has passed this tests.  We also worm them several times a year.
We have only done one DNA test. Since there was some cases of vWD in the pedigree, we schecked Leeloo to be sure our lines wasn't affected . She  is the mother and grandmother to all our broadbitches, and she is clear. Her mother Tilly is only schecked free by the old bloodtest.

We also use a pedigree program Breeders Assistant to calculate inbreeding percentage in every mating.
